Organisers of the Mercer Surrey Half Marathon are delighted to introduce Salming as sponsors of the event on 11 March 2018. Salming are a Swedish company specialising in trail and road running footwear, clothing and accessories; and have sponsored a number of aat-events including the Guildford Triathlon.

Mercer Surrey Half runners will be among the first to enjoy Salming’s brand new range of clothing and shoes; launching on 8 March 2018. The 2018 “EnRoute” and “Speed” models of trainers will be available to purchase in a variety of colours and sizes from the Salming tent on race day.

The Salming EnRoute shoe is Salming’s iconic model; designed to stand the test of time for every runner – no matter what foot strike or running form. The shoes features four different design elements which merge together to creating one solid responsive and supportive unit. A “Wrap Around” upper layer offers a snug feel to the shoe and is complemented by the 3 layer upper construction. This consists of a large mesh area next to the foot and a tongue with a gusset design. The second layer is a fully integrated ExoSkeleton™ – part of the lacing construction which keeps the foot in place. The shoe is finished off with a thin net mesh – offering great breathability and fit. The UK 9 weighs in at just 256g.

Race Director Toby Jenkins has been wearing the EnRoute model since 2016; and remarks: “They’re great trainers”. The 2017 EnRoute model was chosen as the Official Trainer of the 2017 Guildford Triathlon. Watch Toby’s review of Salming’s 2017 EnRoute trainers HERE.

Salming’s 2017 Speed shoes weigh in at an incredibly light 230g (UK 9); as they feature a lighter version of Salming’s Natural Running Support System. This support system allows every runner to find and stay in their natural running stride.

Each of the team at aat-events wear a different model of Salming trainers, but you’ll see all of them rocking Salming’s off-road trainers on the trails. If you enjoy running through Surrey’s green-belt countryside, check out Salming’s Trail 5 trainers.

The Trail 5 incorporates Salming Natural Support System that consists of three main areas – the Torsion Guidance System (TGS62/75°), the Wrap-Around-Design construction, and the Recoil and Recoil R cushioning properties. Additionally, the Trail 5 features a collaboration with Vibram – using Vibram Megagrip compound with an exclusively designed outsole for unparalleled grip on dry and wet slippery surfaces.

GlucoRx – also sponsors of the Mercer Surrey Half Marathon – are offering 2018 entrants the chance to win a pair of Salming Trainers. Keep reading to find out how you could win…
